WHAT IS A CSA (COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE)?

It's a local farm, like Down to Earth, where customers purchase a share of the season's harvest in advance. Customers pick up their share of fresh organic vegetables once a week at the farm for the 20 week season (Mid June- first of November). Members of the CSA share both the bounty from the land and the agricultural risks involved with producing vegetables. Down to Earth was founded in 2007.

WHAT IS A SHARE?

A typical share averages out to 8 to 10 pounds of fresh vegetables a week. We will grow approximately 30 kinds of vegetables in 2012, with all our members helping to grow our vegetable crops.

One person from each share at the Down to Earth CSA helps with farm work at the farm for 2 hours every other week from the time they join until the end of October and participates in at least 2 of the farm workdays held once a month. We do this partly to save on the cost of our shares, but we also learn how our food grows as we share the work at the farm twice a month.

The cost for a full share (for a family of 4 or 2 vegetarians) is $400.00. A half share is $200.00.

*Send a down payment of   $100.00 with your sign up form and the balance ($300.00 for a full share or $100.00 for a half share) by June 1.
